Prescription orthotics are not arch supports or over the counter insoles. They are a biomechanical device made from a positive plaster mold of your feet according to your doctor's prescription. They are individual to each patient. Prescription orthotics are similar to prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses.
Prescription orthotics include the following as part of the case fee
- the biomechanical exam where clinical measurements are taken of the lower extremities (legs and feet)
- impression casting where a positive plaster mold is made of both feet
- orthotic fabrication or making of the orthotics by podiatric technicians in the lab;usually takes 2-3 weeks
- orthotic dispense and fitting
*Prescription Orthotics may or may not be a covered service under your insurance plan.
