Starting Out on The Right Foot
If there is one common problem among those who participate in athletics or strive for fitness, it is the potential for injury especially to the lower extremities and in particular the foot and ankle. There are 26 bones in the foot alone with over 33 joints and hundreds of ligaments. Exercise and fitness are essential to our well being but can place increase stress on these areas. For example a 150 lb walker will transfer 180 lbs of force through his/her feet with each step. By running, this increases to 450 lbs of force.
Remember to start out on the right foot when beginning any athlete activity or fitness program . The right preparation, training and equipment (shoes) can go a long way in minimizing injuries.
