Jaylon's Brace

Writer's picture: StaffStaff

Designed in 1996 by sports podiatrist Dr. Doug Richie, as an alternative to traditional ankle braces, the Richie Brace is an Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFO) for patients with foot and ankle pathology including Drop Foot, Posterior Tibialis Tendon Dysfunction, Chronic Ankle Instability, Ankle and Subtalar Degenerative Joint Disease and many other ankle injuries including nerve injury in the lower leg. It was originally developed for those patients who have foot and ankle pathology and are not surgical candidates.

It is a prescription custom-made orthotic device that requires evaluation by your podiatric physician who after exam and lower extremity casting can determine the best brace design to control the problem and reduce symptoms. The lightweight construction and low-profile features of the Richie Brace allows better support of the ankle, better shoe fit, more freedom of movement and reduced pain from injury.

The Richie Brace was instrumental in helping Dallas Cowboy's linebacker Jaylon Smith recover from a nerve injury and "drop foot". The brace allowed him to have much more natural movement, rehab and recover more quickly. Once again performing at his best.
